Why RAMS?

My time in the army was dominated by two things — writing safe systems of work, and reviewing them. As a commissioned officer I held a moral and legal duty to make sure every operation and training serial was carried out as safely as the activity allowed. High-risk work doesn't excuse loose paperwork; it demands the opposite.

Tarian is what happens when you take that discipline, apply modern AI, and combine it with the knowledge of the contractors actually using the system day to day.

RAMS have become a de facto legal asset on UK sites, and getting them right is one of the few things that moves all three numbers that matter to a UK construction business at once: safer sites, better margins, more work won. Safer because somebody actually read the document against the hazards on the ground. Better margins because the gap is found before the work starts rather than after it stops. More work won because clients trust the contractor whose documents land right first time.

Get the RAMS wrong and all three break.

Most of the people who need that are not the people who wrote the document. A principal contractor coordinating a supply chain, a consultant advising a client, a designer or a client carrying duties under CDM 2015 — all of them read documents somebody else produced, in volumes nobody has time to read properly, and all of them carry the consequences of whatever was missed. In law nobody approves a RAMS, which makes being precise about what accepting one actually asserts most of the job. That is the job Tarian was built to do.

What I've built

Tarian is built in Wales, and used by contractors across the UK. If you've got feedback on a review, a finding we've missed, or a feature you want — it comes straight to me. That's the one real advantage of a small company over the bigger players, and I intend to keep it.
